I know some of you would like to know the differences between the ST531HD and ST371HD, so I have spent quite an amount of time finding the differences between these two models for you to see. Hopefully, it will help you to made an informative decision.
To be honest, they really don’t have that much differences, but I did find a couple of differences. Other than the below items in the differences summary section, the rest of the features or weight are the same.
Both models are designed to sew up to six layers of fabrics and that is why they considered these machines to be tough and strong.

Differences In Summary
I would like to address that the Brother ST531HD does have a metal frame but I am not very sure if the ST371HD has the same thing or not. Both models have the same measurements like height and weight, so I am guessing it has a very high possibility to have a metal frame.
I did not confirm it with the Brother brand company. The looks for both models are a little different. The ST371HD has a little darker color more like in black and white colors and the other model is in gray and white colors.
I would also like to mention another thing, the older model doesn’t have a selection of SS1 to SS2 function. This function is basically to be able to select more stretch stitch designs.
The older model doesn’t have this function due to only having 37 built in stitches and the ST571HD does have this function with 53 built in stitches. That is about 16 stitches selection in differences.
The newer model also comes with something called finger guard. That is the first sewing machine I have come across that has this included.
I really wish they had that when I was learning how to sew. It definitely would save me the trouble and pain of getting hurt.
Another thing I would like to mention is the type of stitch selection. With the older model it has a shift key and the newer model has a dial selection.

Which One To Pick – The ST531HD Or ST371HD?
I don’t know about you, if I had to choose between these two models I would definitely pick the latest model of the ST531HD. I like the idea of having a metal frame and I don’t know if the ST371HD has it or not.
I also like having a finger guard to protect my fingers from getting hurt even though I am not a beginner sewer. This little finger guard thing also works great for someone who sews in a very fast speed.
Those sewers are usually doing sewing as a living. Speaking of that, one of my sisters is making a living out of sewing at her home.
Anyway, I like the idea of having 16 more additional built in stitch selections. Who doesn’t like to have more, right?
